FAQs
Here are some of our most frequently asked questions about our dog harnesses, leads and collars. If you have any further questions, please use the contact form on our contact us page and we will be more than happy to help.
Dog Harnesses
There are many types of dog harnesses on the market and it is sometimes tricky to know which is best for your dog. The most popular harness is the y shaped dog harness and for good reason. This shape of harness offers a secure fit, while not restricting any movement. They are usually put on over the head, and buckle up around the girth of the dogs chest.
Harnesses can help reduce your dog’s pulling but they should not be used instead of walk training. A harness evenly distributes pressure on the dogs body and avoids any tugging on the neck and throat.
Y shaped harnesses are a preferred choice for many due to their comfort. They slide over the dogs head, have a front panel, adjustable back and neck straps and fasten around the dogs girth. Their thin front panel sculpts around the dogs shoulder so does not restrict movement as other H shaped harnesses may.
Dog harnesses provide better control over your dog and evenly distribute the pressure of guidance over the body. They also reduce the strain on the neck and throat area, preventing chocking and general discomfort.
Their comfort also often discourages pulling.
All of our dog harnesses have full adjustable neck and girth
straps allowing for the perfect fit. Please see our size guide and measuring guide to fit your dog correctly for Lottie & Co dog harnesses.
Dog Collars
All of our dog collars are adjustable in length. Please see our size chart and measuring guide to find the best size for your dog.
The Lottie & Co dog collars fasten with a secure, branded plastic buckle. It also has a black metal D-ring for lead attachment.
Place the measuring tape around the base of your dog's neck, where the collar will sit.
Ensure the tape is snug but not too tight. You should be
able to comfortably fit two fingers between the tape and your dog's neck.
Record the measurement in centimetres.
Check out our measuring guide for more information.
It's generally recommended to remove your dog's collar at
night for comfort and safety.
We always recommend hand washing your dog collars to maintain the quality of the fabric. Check out our product care page for more
information.
Dog Leads
A standard one length lead is advised for every day dog
walking. Flexible leads can offer encourage pulling and offer much less control.
Our standard leads are 152cm long and our brand new
adjustable brown tweed lead ranges from 95-145cm.
Our adjustable lead is very similar to our standard lead
except you can customise the length, just like you can with dog collars and
harnesses. This feature allows the lead to go from 95-145cm and can be changed depending on your walking style. Once in place the lead will not adjust while in use, but the length can be easily changed as you please.
The additional D-ring on our dog leads enable you to wear
the lead cross body when your dog is off the lead.
Yes, our leads are designed to be suitable for dogs of all sizes and breeds. They are 152cm In length, allowing enough length for
exploring while allowing you to have control over your dog. If you would prefer a shorter lead, opt for our adjustable brown tweed dog lead that can adapt from 95-145cm in length.
