Dog Harness

Measuring your dog correctly for a Y-shaped harness is important to ensure a proper, secure fit and comfort for your pup. All dogs have different proportions so please make sure to measure specifically for our harnesses.

Here's a step-by-step guide on how to measure your dog for a Lottie & Co Dog Harness:

Step 1: Neck Measurement

  • Place the measuring tape around the base of your dog's neck, where the collar usually sits.
  • Make sure the tape is snug but not too tight, making sure you can fit two fingers in between the neck and the collar easily, allowing room for comfort.
  • Record the measurement in centimetres.

Step 2: Girth Measurement

  • Measure the girth by wrapping the tape around the widest part of your dog's ribcage, just behind the front legs.
  • Ensure the tape is snug but not too tight, allowing another centimetre or two is advisable.
  • Record the measurement in centimetres.

Step 3: Chest Measurement

  • To measure the chest, place the tape at the nape of your dog's neck, where the top of the harness would rest, taking it through the centre of their front legs and stopping just being their front legs (where you took the girth measurement).
  • Keep the tape snug but not constricting.
  • Record the measurement in centimetres.

Step 4: Back Length Measurement

  • Measure the length of your dog's back by placing the tape at the base of the neck (where the collar or top of the harness would sit) and extending it along the spine to where the girth would meet.
  • Ensure the tape follows the contour of your dog's back.
  • Record the measurement in centimetres.

Step 5: Compare Measurements to Size Chart

Different harness brands may have varying size charts, so it's essential to refer to our specific size for each product.

Dog Collar

Step 1: Measure the Neck Circumference

  • Place the measuring tape around the base of your dog's neck, where the collar will sit.
  • Ensure the tape is snug but not too tight. You should be able to comfortably fit two fingers between the tape and your dog's neck.
  • Record the measurement in centimetres.

Step 2: Check our Collar Adjustability Range

  • All of our collars are adjustable. Your dog may measure in between two sizes. If very close to the larger size, size up, if in the middle it is personal preference whether to opt for the smaller, thinner collar or larger thicker collar.

Step 3: Choose the Right Size

  • Select the collar size that accommodates your dog's measurements and falls within the adjustable range.

Tips:

  • Measure your dog when they are standing to get more accurate measurements.
  • If your dog is still growing and falls between sizes, opt for the larger collar option.
  • Remember, a properly fitting harness and collar are crucial for your dog's comfort and safety during walks or other activities.
  • Regularly check the collar's fit, especially for puppies or fast-growing dogs, and make adjustments as needed.
